Annie Kate Blue says, "Aunt Effie lived with us after grandfather's death. She never raised her voice in anger and was ever gentle and sweet. We thought she was beautiful and loved her devotedly. She and my mother loved one another as sisters might. She lived until after my mother died and died in our home. She was my first music teacher." She further says that her father's home was always full of the members of the family, children and grandchildren, and in listing the members of this family, she always gave the nicknames and often spoke in affectionate terms of them. It is the opinion of this writer that this family loved one another devotedly and had a grand time. They lived in Brookhaven, Miss."
