Born in Townsend Ont. Canada (Next to US Border) Moved to Rockford Ill. in early 1852 (Parents were both US Citizens born in N.Y. State)
Served as 3rd Sgt. 92nd Ill. Inf (Mounted) Co. H during the Civil War 1861-65
Was later Comander of Gen. H.W.Slocum Post No. 189 Dept. Of Calif. G.A.R. Mountain View CA. from 1906 to 1912.
Died in The Veterans Home at Napa CA. April 26 1922
Married Miss Ella E. Kendall Oct. 2nd 1862 they had 5 Children but only 3 survived to Adulthood
Was sightly wounded in the Battle of Atlanta GA. And bosted that he was not only one of Gen. W.T. Sherman's "BUMMERS" But that he met Gen. Sherman in person as well.
The Attached Photos were Given to me by Russel Pettit 1905-89 of Post Falls Idaho Grandson of Ezekiel and Son of William Pettit He asked me to look after his Family History and to pass it on to the Future and that I'm doing now. Thanks Russel.
