J. Sprigg McMahon joined the practice of his father, John McMahon, in 1891 after getting his education at Yale.

He married the daughter of the president of the Dayton Malleable Iron Company, a client that remained with the firm through its corporate existence.

He never fully emerged from the shadow of his father’s fame and outlived his father by only eight years. His chief claim to fame was his role as an organizer of the BuzFuz Club in the 1890s in the back room of the offices of McMahon & McMahon. The club still prospers today in the Kettering Tower where there are photos of J. Sprigg McMahon and his cronies.
