James was born February 2, 1920 in Flint, the son of Joseph Bryan and Marie (Lamiman) English.
James was a veteran of World War II serving in the Army Air Corp. He married Audrey B. Beyer on September 9, 1942 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He retired from Buick Motor Company after 33 years in production. He was a collector of stamps and enjoyed flying remote controlled planes.
Surviving are: wife, Audrey English; son, Timothy English and wife, Paula of Swartz Creek; grandson, Bryan English; two step-grandchildren, Brian Depuydt and Christopher Hiselman; three great-grandchildren, Nika and Kadin English and Kimberley Hiselman; brother, Robert English and wife, Donna of CO. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Wayne.
