"Martha Jane Shuman was born October 31, 1852, in Monongahala (sic) County, W. Va. Departed this life at her home at Eagle City, Okla., November 28, 1927, aged 75 years and 28 days. She affiliated with the Christian Church in 1874, and lived a good Christian life. She was a devoted wife and mother. She was united in marriage to P. T. Higgenbottom, July 18, 1867. To this union was born four sons and five daughters, six of whom with her husband survive her. Elmer E., of Eagle City, Okla., Samuel, of Canton, Okla., Albert J. of Adams, Neb., Mrs. Martha Arnall, of Manitou, Okla., Mrs. Rosetta Kneale, of Douglas, Okla., and Mrs. Amanda Carter, of Wichita, Kansas. 32 grandchildren and 45 great grandchildren and numerous friends mourn her passing.
