He was a graduate of business college in Wisconsin and worked at H.K. Porter for 25 years retiring in 1984.
He was on one the founding members of St. William Parish in Champion, Ohio, where he was active as an usher and Eucharistic Minister. A member of the Men's Club, he helped run the bingo program.
Mr. Cyphert was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7491, and a member of the Christian Family Movement. He was a member the Eagles, Moose and Elk Clubs in Pennsylvania.
He also was a member of the VFW in Ohio, the Pearless-Winsmith Retires Group, SCOPE and Mobile Meals. He enjoyed fishing, boating, bowling, camping, reading, gardening, hunting, playing horseshoes and golfing. He has served as a scout master, Little League coach and hospice volunteer.
Besides his wife, Florence M. Pontius, whom he married July 12, 1947, survivors include two daughters, Debra Freathy of Vevey, Switzerland, and Serene Stash of Naples, FL; a son, Gregory, of Vienna and seven grandchildren.
A son, Jeffrey; three brothers and three sisters are deceased.
