Education: He completed the 7th grade.

Married: March, 1929

Sports: About 1904 a baseball team was formed in Risingsun, called the Uniques, with brown uniforms and white lettering. Ed played right field. The diamond was located about a quarter mile north of town. As one anonymous writer put it, "Some games were won and some lost. Anyway, a lot of fun."

In a 1988 Onsel family history, Oby Bonawit wrote:

"Charles and Edward were listed as pumpers in the 1910 census of Risingsun. They formed the Onsel Brothers Company in the 1920's, dealing in oil well supplies. An important part of the business became the salvaging of equipment from leases that were no longer profitable. Several men were kept busy pulling equipment out of the ground, dismantling rod and pipe lines, hauling it in, reconditioning, sorting and loading it in freight cars.

"That business declined over the years until the company was incorporated in 1959. The Company now wholesales plumbing and water systems primarily, within a radius of about a hundred miles in northwest Ohio, and employs about a dozen people. A computer system was installed in 1988."

Pall bearers: John H. Seiple, James E. Pine 162393585, Cleo Smith, Wheeler White, Bob Zeigman, Ed Deer.
