Rev. C. W. Oscarson, age 88 of Greenville passed away at 4:50 p.m. Friday January 11, 2008 at Fair Oaks in Greenville. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday January 15, 2008 at the Greenville Free Methodist Church with Rev. Herbert H. Coates officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Auburn Cemetery with Rev. David Tomb, C.W. Oscarson Jr., and Rev Jeffrey Blake officiating. For those who desire, memorials may be made to the Greenville Free Methodist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends at the Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home from 5 until 8 p.m. Monday and from 9:30 am Tuesday at the Church.

Clarence William Oscarson Sr., the son of Jacob and Ida Matilda Wemstrum Oscarson, was born on October 28, 1919 in Galchutt, North Dakota. He grew up in Fargo, North Dakota and Moorhead, MN. He attended the public schools there and graduated from High School there. He worked summers at the Old Trail Market. He attended Greenville College and while there ran the College Book Store for two years. he graduated from Greenville College in 1943. He worked for Greenville College and pastored the Sorento Free Methodist Church. C. W. and Elizabeth Florence "Beth" Oscarson were united in marriage on February 21, 1945 in LaDue Chapel by Prof Wilson King and have enjoyed over 62 years together. She survivis as do their three children: Clarence W. Oscy" (Bonnie) Oscarson Jr. of Lees Summit, MO, Barbara J. wife of Rev. David Tomb of Surprise, AZ, and Douglas K. (Julia) Oscarson of Earlham, Iowa, 7 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren. He is also survived by four sisters: Roselle Oscarson, Ione Smith, Adeline Larson all of Moorhead, MN and Jean Ohren of Belleville, Florida.

C.W. and Beth pastored churches including Winebago Free Methodist Church from 1946-1948 where C.W. developed the carpentry trade, Burlington Free Methodist from 1948-1953, Cedar Rapids Free Methodist 1953-1958, Waterloo Free Methodist 1958-1965. C.W. was elected conference Superintendent of the Iowa Conference service 9 years 1965-1974. Everywhere they served C.W. built either a parsonage, Church, or both. They moved to Douglas Avenue Free Methodist where he served from 1974 until 1982.In retirement he served the Phoenix Church where he was visitation minister and later to Mesa Light and Life until 1992. They moved to Greenville in 1992 where he continued building.

C. W. is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Edith Johnson, and is a member of the Gateway conference of the Free Methodist Church.
