REV. AARON HENDERSON GRIFFITH

Aaron Henderson Griffith, oldest son of J. Walker and Lula I. [née Grier] Griffith, was born August 14th 1875, in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina in the bounds of Ebenezer A.R.P. congregation. He received his education at Erskine College and after his junior year Aaron entered Erskine Theologian Seminary in 1899; graduating June 1900. Aaron was licensed by the First Presbytery at Pisgah A.R.P. in Gaston County, North Carolina on May 8, 1900. From June to October 1900, he supplied Hickory Spring and Shady Grove in the Arkansas Presbytery.

Rev. Aaron H. Griffith was ordained by the First Presbytery in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 11th 1900. Under direction of the Board of Home Missions, Rev. Griffith took up the work in Little Rock and Jacksonville, Arkansas on December 20th. The Mission prospered and in October 1902, the Little Rock church presented a call for his pastoral services, asking for all his time. This call was accepted and he was installed pastor of the Little Rock Presbyterian church on December 3rd 1902.

Rev. Griffith was married to Miss Eva Lee Prather, daughter of William S. and Ida Prator, of Little Rock on December 25th 1901. There were four sons born to Eva and Aaron Griffith.

He is a vigorous, earnest preacher and has been unusually successful in building up the work committed to him by the Synod. On January 25th 1902, Rev. Griffith was granted a certificate to connect with the United Presbyterian Church. For the remainder of his life, Rev. Griffith preached at various Presbyterian churches in Oklahoma, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Rev. Aaron Henderson Griffith departed his earthly life on May the 10th 1945 in Youngstown, Ohio. He was laid to rest in the churchyard cemetery at Ebenezer A.R.P. near his parents.
