Adrian D. Atkinson 1919 ~ 2007
Adrian D. Atkinson, 87, of Pleasant Grove, Utah passed away on April 19, 2007, sitting in his recliner surrounded by loved ones.
He was born September 3, 1919 to Thomas A. Atkinson and Nora Pace Atkinson. He was the youngest of eight children and spent the majority of his childhood in the Kamas Valley, before moving to Pleasant Grove.
He married Odessa Nix on Dec. 25, 1944 in Albany, GA; they were married 52 years. Adrian served in World War II in the Army Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant in the Pacific Theatre. After leaving the military Adrian and Odessa spent their lives raising their two daughters, tending sheep and farming while Adrian worked at Geneva. He enjoyed time spent on his tractor helping his neighbors, working in his vegetable and flower gardens. He was happiest being at home with loved ones.
Adrian is survived by his sister, Bernice Wadley, Pleasant Grove; two daughters, Denna Atkinson, Las Vegas, NV; and Joleen Denny, Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren, Corianne Hunter, Travis Gates, Neisha Walker and Shantel Mead; four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kylee, Shaylee and Brennan; two special children, Kurt and Jeana Vuksinick, many nieces and nephews, and his loving canine protector, Gigi. Adrian is preceded in death by his wife Odessa and one great-grand-son, Colton.
Funeral services will be held on Mon., April 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. in the Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 S. 300 E., Pleasant Grove, UT. Friends and family may call on Sun. evening April 22, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Monday. Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery with military honors conducted by the American Legion Post 72.
