DEATH OF GEORGE HAMBLIN
A LOYAL OLD SOLDIER ANSWERS TO LAST ROLL CALL

Geo. W. Hamblin, of 816 E. Seventh, the well-known ex-union soldier, died last night of consumption. Mr. Hamblin has been afflicted for years; for a time he was an inmate of the Soldier's Home, but returned to the city recently. The funeral will be from the house at 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, under G.A.R. auspices, Rev. W.T. Pitcher of the Christian church, officiating. Interment in Baxter Cemetery.

Mr. Hamblin was formerly engaged in the dray business in Ottawa; of late years he has devoted much attention to nursing in which profession he was adept.

He was born on Guernsey Channel Islands. He enlisted in the union service in December, 1861 as a bugler in Company F., Second Kansas cavalry, and served his full term of 39 months, being honorably mustered out in November 1865. He was mustered into Geo. H. Thomas post, G.A. R. November 9, 1883.

Deceased was born March 17, 1844. He was married to Miss Clarissa Sutton, Jan. 6, 1867, which union was blessed with 12 children, six of whom, with his wife, an aged mother, one brother and five sisters together with a host of comrades and friends remain to mourn his depature.
