Orville is the son of Charles and Blanche Maxwell Acklin. He married Inez Pearl Clark on Nov. 6, 1926.

Rev. Orville J. Acklin, 73, of 14M E. Decatur St. died 6:50 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 27, 1979) in his home. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Boiling Springs Church of God. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Monday in Brintlinger's Pershing Funeral Home. Burial will be in Boiling Springs Cemetery. Memorials: Stone Street Church of God.
Rev. Acklin was born in Jasper County, son of Charles and Blanche Maxwell Acklin. He was founder of Stone Street Church of God and also served at Lake-view Church of God, West Decatur Church of God and Warrensburg Church of God. He also worked for the Wabash Railroad for 41 years as a carman. He married Inez P. Clark in 1926.
Surviving are wife; sons, Ralph E. of Decatur; Paul D. of Sumner, Wash.; Charles C. of Poplarville, Miss.; daughters, Mrs. Ronald (Louise) Finley and Martha A. McCarty, both of Decatur; mother of Newton; brothers, Wayne of Wheeler; James of Newton; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild.
