The facts surrounding Joseph Bogle Bryson are sketchy. He was on the 1790 census in the old Pendleton District in western South Carolina. Later he was on the census in Buncombe County, NC before it was split into Haywood, Buncombe and Henderson counties. His wife, Judith Allen Bryson appeared on the 1840, 1850, and 1860 census reports in Henderson County. Then she moved to Texas to be with four of her sons. It is believed by local Brysons around Mills River that Joseph Bogle was buried in the Bryson Cemetery on North Mills River Road. Of the 150 graves that are believed to have been in this old cemetery only a dozen or so are identifiable. Many of the tombstones have been carried away or buried in the brush and brambles. Any information would be appreciated.
Joseph and Judith had 7 sons: William Joseph (d.in Suwannee County, FL-grave unk), John Thomas , George B. (d. in Haywood County, NC-grave unk), Robert B., Seaborn, James A., and Samuel (d.in Lamar County, TX.
