Edward married Florence Mae Cook on Feb. 11, 1880 in Rock Island, IL. She was born in Clearfield Co., PA. They had 3 children all born in Lyons, Iowa; DeForest b1881 m. Eva Pearl Guy in 1903 in Laurel, MS, Inez 1885-1886, and Eunice Elizabeth b1889.
The family came to Meridian, MS from Iowa in 1893, where Florence died in 1909 and then to Laurel, MS when the Eastman-Gardiner lumber mill was first moved to Laurel.
Ed was a sawyer, who sharpened the saw blades, and one of the first millwrights to move south.
In the 1910 Census Edward D. Stratton is living alone at 11th Ave., Laurel, Jones Co., MS.
Edward "Ed" Stratton died at the home of his daughter Eunice Stratton Mulloy at age 63 after a number of years of paralysis. He was also survived by his son D. S. Stratton of New Orleans. Rev. Geo. D. Bouth and Rev. Barrett officiated at the funeral.
