Arthur, age 81, of Poynette, passed away in the arms of his loving wife, Joan, on Sunday at University Hospital in Madison. Art was born to Julius Karl & Marie Anna (Grunau) Briede. He graduated from Portage High School. Art was married on June 6, 1953 to Joan Schutz at Poynette Methodist Church. He served his country with the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, and with the Wisconsin Air National Guard for thirty years. Art worked as an accounting budget analyst for the Wisconsin Air National Guard. He loved his family and his country, and enjoyed nature, the sound of birds, music and traveling.
He is survived by his wife, Joan; three daughters, Mary (Kurt) Pustina, of Dodgeville, WI, Julie (Didier) Ibar, of New Berlin, WI, and Linda Steingraeber, of Wausau, WI; six grandchildren, Nicholas (Fiancée, Lindsay Forbes) Pustina, of Anchorage, AK, Matthew (Olga) Pustina, of Anchorage, AK, Jacob (Gretchen) Steingraeber, of Sussex, WI, Anna (Dennis) Cobb, of Poynette, WI, Jennifer Steingraeber, of Superior, WI, and Andrea Steingraeber, of Pardeeville, WI; three great-grandchildren, Sienna and Chase Steingraeber and Jaxxen Cobb; his sister, Frieda Daley, of Santa Barbara, CA; five nieces, Mary Ann (Gerard) Brewer, of CA, Loretta (Jim) Dietz, of Sun Prairie, WI, Irene (John) Vorhaus, California, Noreen Glisson, California, and Debbie (Blake) Montag, California; dear family friend for 27 years, Lorraine Kuhl, of Portage, WI; other near relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, his father- and mother-in-law, Frank and Mary Schutz, and two brothers-in-law, James F. Daley and Harry F. Kannry. Funeral services were held on Wednesday at the Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, with the Rev. Sharon Smith officiating. Burial with military graveside services provided by Poynette area veterans. Pflanz Mantey Mendrala Funeral Home in Poynette, assisted with arrangements.
