Funeral services for Vera Mae Harris, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday Dec 29 in the Lakeview Baptist Church in Salina.
Revs. Robert Belew and Wayne Robbins officiated with burial in the Boatman Cemetery under the direction of the Wilson-Cunningham Funeral Home of Pryor.
Harris was born June 5, 1928 in Woodland Junction, Okla. to Ezra and Lena (Littlefield) Armstrong, and died Dec 26, 1996 in Tulsa, Okla.
She was a lifetime resident of the area, loved the outdoors and enjoyed camping and fishing. She worked as a nurse's aide in the area nursing homes, and was a member of the Lakeview Baptist Church of Salina. One of the greatest joys of her life was her family, whom she dearly loved.
Survivors include husband, David Harris; Johnny Dodson, Pryor and Steve Dodson of Salina; daughters Margaret Elwess of Modesto, Calif., Maxine Scoggins of Salina, LaFonda Phebus of Wichita, Kans., Trevetta Storie of Fort Mill, S.C., Letitia Burrow of Boatman, Vickie Dodson of Pryor, and Buffy Mayo; brother Robert Armstrong of Tulsa; sister Fern Gates of Pryor; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Harris is preceeded in death by both parents; son Donnie Plumlee in Sept. 1954; brother Clayton Armstrong in Jan. 1973.
Pall bearers include Steve Dodson, Johnny Dodson Steven Ray Dodson, Kevin Lee Dodson, Joe Don Marble, Allen Storie, Jon Cavalier, Wesley Martin and Lesley Martin.
