CLYDE MOODY, 43 DIES LATE FRIDAY; RITES ANNOUNCED
Injuries Sustained in Accident at Mine Cause Death.
FUNERAL SERVICES TO BE HELD MONDAY
Burial Will Be Made in Cemetery at Olive Branch.
Injuries received in a fall of slate at the New Hope mine near here Thursday caused the death at 7 o'clock last night of Clyde Moody, 43 years old, who passed away in the Freeman-Greene county hospital.
Moody sustained his injuries when he was partially covered by a fall of slate as he was at work operating a coal-loading machine at the mine. Brought to the hospital, his condition steadily became worse and he passed away last night.
Mr. Moody was born Nov. 14, 1895, in the Linton community, the son of Wilson and Flora May Price Moody.
All of the life of the deceased was spent in this community, and he was well known through his work as a miner and through his activities with the United Mine Workers of America. Lately he had made his home on rural route 3. He was a member of the Linton Twin Safety chapter.
Mr. Moody was a member of the Olive Branch Baptist church, and for many years had played an active part in the affairs of that congregation.
He is survived by the widow, Mrs. Zada Moody, and two children, Atna and "Bud" Moody, both of Linton. Two children, Marvin Rexford and Melvin Eugene, preceded him in death. Other survivors are one brother and one sister, Curt Moody and Mrs. Matilda Chanley.
The body of the deceased was taken to the Newkirk funeral home in Pleasantville for preparation for burial. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon in Olive Branch Baptist church with the Rev. Mr. Simpson, pastor, in charge. Burial will be made in the Olive Branch cemetery.
