FRANKTON — Michael Ray Whetsel, 64, of Frankton, passed away March 30, 2010, at his residence following an extended illness.

He was born Aug. 16, 1945, in Anderson, the son of Noah Ray Whetsel and Evelyn (Alexander) Whetsel of Frankton.

Mike married Carolyn (Carol) Salmon on Feb. 12,1967, and she survives. He was a member of the Madison Christian Church (DOC) of Frankton, where he served as deacon and much-loved greeter. He helped with the church sound system and served on the property committee.

He retired in 1999 from General Motors in Anderson where he worked as a tool and die maker for 35 years. He also was a member of United Auto Workers Local 663.

Mike was a avid golfer and had such a great time with all of his golfing friends at Yule in Alexandria and Killbuck in Anderson. He also traveled many places with his friends to play.

Left to cherish his memory, are . . ..

He was preceded in death by his father; and brother-in-law, Raymond McCord.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Harper & Dunnichay Funeral Home in Frankton with Revs. Gary Elsten and Mike Mickmoshenrose officiating. Burial will be in K of P & I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Frankton.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Madison Christian Church.
