Obit – Maricle, Burrell - 1949
Rapides Chronicle
Glenmora LA
Once a familiar figure in the Bethel community and west Rapides Parish area, Burrell (Uncle Burr) Maricle was born on Tuesday, July 11, 1843. He went to his final reward and resting place on Wednesday, May 25, 1949, after spending 105 years, 10 months and 14 days on God's Earth. During this long lifespan, he served in the War Between the States (The Civil War) and was assigned to Company I, 6th LA Calvary, CSA.
Like a vast majority of those served in that needless and un-necessary waste of human beings for no good reason whatso ever except to satisfy the selfish greed of politicians, he was probably about 16 or 17 years of age when he enlisted.
