Paul was a 1964 graduate of the Benjamin Franklin High School in Carbondale and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Spanish from Oneonta College in Oneonta, New York. He was a retired elementary school teacher from Forest City High School, Forest City, PA., where he taught for 29 years. He was a Director of the Coal Company Theater for 30 years and the Area Community Theater (The ACT) for many years. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and he attended Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Carbondale.
