Obituary:
William "Dub" McCarrell, 80, of Fort Payne, Ala., passed away Monday at his residence. Mr. McCarrell was born July 10, 1925, in Harriman, Tenn., son of the late Walter Don and Ethel Lois Akins McCarrell.

He was retired from the Shugart Hosiery Mill. Mr. McCarrell was a deacon of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.

Mr. McCarrell was preceded in death by his first wife, Jean, son John, and brother Jack McCarrell.

Funeral services were held 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Thomas Cagle officiating. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. EST, Thursday at the Lakeview Cemetery in Lenoir City. The family received friends Tuesday 5-9 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home.

Survivors include his wife Norma Jean McCarrell; son and daughter-in-law, David and Jeannie McCarrell of Fort Payne; daughter and son-in-law, Kay and Mike Gallagher of Knoxville; sisters Juanita Webb of Neptune Beach, Fla. and Barbara Buchanan of Hudgins, Va.; grandchildren Justin and Jada McCarrell, Will Watson, Michelle Buster; great-grandchildren Katelynn Buster, Thomas Buster and Emma Watson.

Pallbearers will be Freeman Kirkland, Eddie Viar, Robert Brown, Paul Lintner, Gary Lindner and Bill Watson. Honorary pallbearers will be the deacons of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
