About 1916 Clyde and his cousin Frank Charlton opened the Harrington Garage which was a Ford and Dodge Agency. He operated this for several years. He later operated an oil distributorship, engaged in farming and cattle raising. He also was partners in a Chevrolet Garage and he worked for the Harrington School District as a school bus mechanic.
When his sister Anna Bailey became a widow she lived with him in his home in Harrington. His mother Louisa also lived with him.
In the spring both he and his sister Anna became residents of the Lincoln Nursing Home, Davenport, WA.
