Shirley A. Rohde, age 73, formerly of Appleton, passed away in Bradenton, Florida, on Wednesday, December 24, 2008. She was born in Green Bay on October 18, 1935, the daughter of the late Florance Eckes. On April 4, 1954, she married her husband of 46 years, Orin Rohde. He preceded her in death on May 28, 2000. Shirley was employed by Kimberly-Clark for many years, later working for Outlook Graphics and Wilmar Chocolates. She enjoyed her good friends in the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, especially the fun trips they planned. Shirley cherished her years in Florida with her special companion, John "Ed" Boley.

Shirley is survived by her children: Lynn (Steven) Schleitwiler of Greenville, Gary (Sandi) Rohde of Darboy, and Cheryl (Brad) Schmitzer of the Town of Menasha; grandchildren: Sara (Brian) Schewe, and Katie (fiance, Tom), Kristy and Paul Schleitwiler; and Kristoffer and Cameron Rohde; great-grandchild, Alexis Schleitwiler; brothers: Robert (Maurene) and Donald (Ruth); and sister, Janice.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2008, at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 North Richmond Ave., Appleton, with Rev. James Wiebel officiating. Friends will be received at the chapel on Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.

A memorial fund in Shirley's name is being established. Proceeds will go toward organizations that support cancer patients.
