Born March 16,1911, in Magoffin County, he was the son of Mose and Minnie Montgomery Howard.
He was self-employed as a merchant and was a member of the Freewill Baptist church.
Surviving are his wife, Marcia (Mickie), Daniels Howard; two sons, James Ernest, Lowmansville and Danny Scott, Louisa; a brother, Melvin Howard, Columbus,OH, a half brother, Carl Adams, Mansfield OH, two sisters, Carrie Howard, Waverly,OH, and Flora Howard, Mansfield,OH; a half sisters, Mary Howard, Mansfield,OH and four grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, February 20, in Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church, Nippa, with Reverends James Kelly Caudill, Willie Gene Hayes, and M. T. Wommack.
Burial was in Green Lawn Cemetery, Louisa with Jones-Preston Funeral Home handling arrangements.
