He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Mayfield and its choir. He attended Mayfield Schools and resided in Carbondale Township for the past 47 years. He was a World War II Army Veteran where he served in D-Day invasion at Normandy and earned the Purple Heart along with other medals. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans of Carbondale, the American Legion and Veteran of Foreign Wars both of Simpson, PA. He also was a member of the Golden Age Senior Citizens Club and St. Michael's Church Holy Name Society both of Simpson. He was a member of the Lakeland Booster Club where he was instrumental in starting Midget football. Prior to his retirement he worked at Tobyhanna Army Depot for 17 years, Sugerman's Department Store and Merli-Sarnoski Park. He also served as Carbondale Township Supervisor for four years. He was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather who loved simple things in life such as listening to polkas, shopping, tinkering in his garage, watching sports and Wheel of Fortune.
