Roy Lee Crofford, age 68, of Pleasanton, Texas, passed away Saturday, June 30, 2007 in Jourdanton, Texas. He is survived by his mother, Evelyn (Measures) Crofford of Hereford, Texas; wife of 39 years Darlene (Sexton) Crofford of Pleasanton; daughter, Julee Lawson and husband Harlan of Pflugerville and son, Curtis Crofford of San Antonio. He is also survived by his three sisters-in-law, Billie Wolff of Brenham, Johny Sowell and husband J.B. of Conroe, Margeret Mathies of Houston and brother Dean Crofford and wife Demita of Brownwood and grandchildren Haylee Lawson, Ashli Lawson and McKenzie Lawson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy graduated from Grier Mechanical Institute of Chicago in 1958. He worked at the GM dealership in Hereford for the next 11 years before obtaining his certification in vocational auto mechanics through the Texas Education Agency. Roy taught Auto Technology at Southside ISD for 11 years and continued his teaching career at Pleasanton ISD for the next 20 years before his retirement. Roy had a genuine love of cars, auto mechanics, and teaching. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasanton for 33 years where he served as an elder. Memorials may be sent to the First Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton. Visitation was held at Hurley Funeral Home in Pleasanton, from 2-8 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007. The funeral service was at First Presbyterian Church in Pleasanton at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007. Interment followed at Pleasanton City Cemetery in Pleasanton.
