Dad was the oldest of three siblings. He was the son of Albert Lemuel Treadway Tubberville and May Barbara Walters. He was a quiet man, never really talking about his upbringing or life in general. He had hazel eyes and dark brown hair. It seemed like he had one tragedy after another but he stood steadfast and faced it with strong perseverance.

At a young age he joined the ARMY and then the Air Force. While in the ARMY he was stationed in Japan. Three events happened to him during his time in the ARMY . He met and fell in love with a woman named Kico and they wanted to marry. When he approached her family to ask her hand in marriage they said no. Then one day while on security detail he seen an individual breaking into a building. This person refused to listen to dads commands to stop and was shot and killed. It ended up being a young boy searching for food. Because of this incident the ARMY transferred dad back to the United States. Dad never got over this tragedy and it stayed with him for the rest of his life. Then back in the states he and a friend were going to the movies and were jumped by a group of guys called "Picanko". It was a gang that had a cross tattooed between their thumb and pointer finger. They beat dad severe enough where he had to spend a week in the hospital.

Dad found love again, when he was introduced to Phyllis Juanita Barnes. I believe they were introduced to each other by her brother Donald. After a three month whirlwind courtship they moved to Portsmouth, Virginia, where his family resided and they married on 24 Dec 1949 . During the upcoming years with dad being in the military, mom went back and forth to her family in Cleveland, Ohio and his family in Portsmouth, Virginia. Their first daughter, Charlotte was born in Sep 1950 in Cleveland and died six months later in Mar 1951 in Portsmouth. In Dec 1953 a second child was born to them, George 'Georgie" Albert Jr. Georgie was born and died in Cleveland. He died at the age of four months in Apr 1954.
