Daughter of Elijah Phillip Strickland and Martha Ann "Mattie" Rogers Strickland.
Born in Walker County, GA, near the Bronco community.

Married George Harrison Hammond about 1905 and together they were parents of 9 children that lived:
Aliene Josephine, Annie Myrtle, Kelly Valentine, Robert Harrison, Ruby Dimple, Sibyl Louise, Mary Lucille, George Glenn, Joe Hill.

Per 1910 Census, it is believed they had at least 2 babies that died of the 4 babies born.

Lived most of her married life in Chattooga County in the Chelsea community near Menlo and then in Summerville. Buried next to George Harrison Hammond in Summerville Cemetery.

Strickland parents and Rogers grandparents, and other McWhorter relatives are buried in the Fairview Cemetery, in Walker Co., very close to the Chattooga Co. line, between LaFayette and Menlo.
