Re Hazel Smith's memories – "I remember when Ruth and Helen died. Ruth had spinal mengitus. She was sick so mutch. She with Dad and Mother came to our house. The men went to town. While they were gone Ruth's tempeture came up. So Mother was ready when Dad came. Now this I'll never forget. She held on the door knob and I said now Ruthie be a good girl and come back and see the baby. She said I'll not come see her anymore, I'll just take her home with me. You can't have her back. You know that's the last she ever said to me. She died and in a few minets Little Helen died. She had whooping cough, busted an artery and that was it, she took her home. They were boath buried in the same casket. (Followed the exact spelling from her letters.)

Josephine Ruth Ash. Josephine Ruth Ash, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Ash who reside five miles south of Medicine Lodge, died Wednesday, February 7th. She was indisposed about two weeks with a severe cold which developed into pneumonia five days before her death.
She was born June 23, 1910, and was 6 years, 7 months and 14 days of age when called to her home "Over There". Little Ruth was an exceptionally bright girl, a joy and comfort to her parents and a beloved companion to her playmates. Her sadden (sudden?) death is indeed sad and lamentable.

Ruth Ash and Helen Lindsey were buried in the same casket.
