Oma Ola Gross was born February 20, 1890 at Moroa twp., Macon Co., Illinois. She married W.W. Gross Jr. in Huron, South Dakota in 1918*. They lived in Beadle County until moving to Hand County in 1928. She returned to Huron after the death of her husband in 1968 and has been a nursing home resident since 1974. She died October 30, 1975 at the Violet Tschetter Nursing Home in Huron.

Funeral services were conducted at the Coleman-Thelen Funeral Home in Redfield November 4, with Charles Middleswarth officiating. Burial was in the Burdette Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jerry Bales, Delbert Bushong, Byman Downing, D.D. Nicholson, Wally Olson, and John Peterman.

Survivors include two sons, William of Huron and Charles of Monterey, California, a daughter, Mrs. Lucille Hanson of Paulina, Iowa; 32 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Her husband, William Gross, a son* and a daughter* preceded her in death.

I was recently going through some memorials of my family. I noticed that on my Aunt's memorial, you have that she was preceded in death by a son "Jake"...his actual name was Velma George Harmon. Don't ask me why in the world they named a male child Velma, but they did. We always called him "Jake", because of this.
