Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend passed away on March 31, 2010.

Alta June Bird was born June 8, 1930 in Salt Lake City to James G. Albertson and Ileen (Halsey) Albertson.

She was the youngest of four children. Her brothers Robert and Carmen and sister Anna are all deceased.

Alta married Carl W. Bird, Sr. on September 3, 1948 and spent sixty-one years as his devoted companion and sweetheart. He was the only person who called her June. They loved going out on Saturday nights to the Eagles. They took trips to all the good gambling spots for mini vacations. They enjoyed many motor home trips with their close friends. And they took several cruises making new friends wherever they went.

Alta was a good mother to her three sons Carl Jr., Jim, and Mike. She loved decorating the house for each holiday. Christmas was particularly wonderful as she spent many hours decorating, baking and making sure each person got their desired gifts.

While the boys were growing up, the family's favorite getaway was their cabin in Lemon's Grove near Kamas. She especially liked to whip up her food specialties. There was always one of her signature dishes available at any gathering. She valued making handicrafts and giving away her many homemade gifts. She was diligent in sending cards to her loved ones to commemorate their special occasions.

As a grandmother, Alta was often called on to be the babysitter for her two grandsons Andy and Ben (BJ). Her two granddaughters Brandi and Carrie were special as the first girls in the family. Dakota was a wonderful addition as the youngest. The grandchildren have many fond memories of their grandparents' condo at Jeremy Ranch. Her seven great-grandchildren were her joy. Alta's friends Molly, Marilyn, Sherry, Marian, and Chrissie were all very dear to her. Thank you Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma, and our good friend for all the love you gave to us.

Alta is survived by her husband Carl W. Bird Sr, sons Carl Jr. (Linda), Jim (Stephanie), and Mike, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

A viewing will be held on April 5, 2010 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and a Memorial Service on April 6, 2010 at 2:00 p.m., with a viewing one hour prior, at Redwood Memorial Estates Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road (1700 West), Taylorsville.
A celebration of her life will be held on April 6, 2010 from 5:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Best Western Cottontree Inn at 10695 Auto Mall Drive in Sandy.
