NEPHI - John Edward Robertson, 81, Nephi former Juab County justice of the peace and Nephi city judge, died in a Provo hospital Sunday of causes incident to age.
Mr. Robertson was president and committeeman for the Ute Stampede Celebration in Nephi. He retired as precinct justice of the peace in 1973 after 18 yeas of service. He served as city judge for eight years.
He was a charter member and past president of he Nephi Lions Club and senior counselor of the UCT Lodge in Long Beach, Calif., where he was a grocer and butcher.
He operated a grocery store in Mills, Juab County for four years. He constructed the Robertson Lodge in Nephi in 1949 and was its operator until his death.
Born in Wichita Falls, Tex, March 1, 1894, he was the son of Dr. Robert R. and Alice Musssen Robertson. He married Maude Bowers Aug. 8, 1918, Salt Lake City.
He is survived by his wife, three daughters, Mrs. Alice Cotton, and Mrs. Keith (Margaret) Park, both of Midvale, Mrs. J. Ralph (Roberta) Binnall, American Fork, nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral sservices will be conducted Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Nephi 3rd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends call Anderson Funeral Home, Nephi, Wednesday 7-9 p.m., and Thursday before services. Burial Vine Bluff Cemetery, Nephi.
