Wilhelm Mayer, War Veteran, Taken by Death
Wilhelm Mayer, 51, veteran of World War I who operated a farm near Grantsdale, died after being ill with throat trouble for a year. He was born in Selz, Russia, in 1894, later came to the United States and enlisted in the army May 10, 1918. He served in the United States until he was honorably discharged February 13, 1919. Surviving are his widow, Eva K. (Kohler), twelve sons and daughters, who are Frank and Totius, Hamilton; Roney, Missoula; Wilhelm, Bryan, Texas; Joseph, with the army in Korea; Mrs. Eva Printz, Barbara, Loretta, Bernie and Jean, at home, and Mrs. Jack D. Stubbs and Mrs. William R. Anderson, Missoula. Mr. Mayer farmed near Grantsdale. Military honors were paid at the grave in Riverview cemetery Saturday morning by Veterans of Foreign Wars Bitter Root post, at the funeral of Wilhelm Mayer, veteran of World War I. Rev. Father M. J. Donohue conducted high mass at St. Francis church. Mr. Mayer died Wednesday after a year's illness.
