Alexander was born to Arthur Thomas and Nancy McCan Trexler Ford.

He married Margaret Estelle Johnson on September 25, 1930 in the District of Columbia.

Born to this union: Nancy Mae and Alton Forrester Ford.

Alexander suffered from a condition called acute intermittent porphria, a blood and kidney disease, which is difficult to diagnose. (this information was provided by his daughter.) He died in Grace Hospital at such a young age.
