Mildred Leona Rehpohl was born in Tabor, South Dakota to Joseph and Martha Stepanek. Later her family moved to Yankton, South Dakota, where she graduated from high school in 1937. She worked for Scott's Department Store for several years and also for Gurney Seed and Nursery in Yankton, South Dakota. She was married to Vern Rehpohl in June of 1940 and in 1941 the couple moved to Long Beach, California where Vern worked for Douglas Aircraft and Richfield Oil Refinery. The Rehpohls raised two sons and a daughter, Douglas, Richard and Kay. The family became members of St. Timothy Lutheran Church at the time of its beginning. The two sons died an untimely death in their twenties but Mildred is survived by Vern and by Kay who is married and lives in Alameda, California with her husband Mark Fraser. There will be a private burial at Westminster Memorial Park following the reception.
