James H. O'Sullivan, 88, of Fayetteville, passed away Friday at Demay Living Center in Newark. A resident of Fayetteville for 65 years, Jim retired as a tool and die maker from Byer Tool and Die in 1980. After retiring, Jim had a second career as a handyman at Immaculate Conception School in Fayetteville. He was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Fayetteville; former Boy Scout Leader of Troop 152; and a former member of NSSA, South Lake Club, Adirondack Club and the Wood Turners Association. He served in the Army Air Corps during WWII as a side gunner on a B17. He flew 38 missions with the "Bloody Hundredth" Bomber Squadron and received the Purple Heart, Distinguished Flying Cross Air Medal with Seven Oak Leave Clusters and the Forte De Guerre from both France and Belgium. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Adeline "Addie"; a daughter, Terry of Fayetteville; a son, William (Maureen) of Westvale; grandchildren, William, Mary Margaret (Paul), Kaitlin, Sarah and Timothy; and great-granddaughter, Madison. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immaculate Conception Church, 400 Salt Springs Rd., Fayetteville. Burial will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Fayetteville. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Immaculate Conception Church.
