My father served twenty years in the United States Navy. Enlisting in May 1941 right after high school. Service covered action in the South Pacific during WWII, the Korean War and being stationed in Cuba, Naples, Italy and other places. His first Ship after boot camp was the USS Maryland but because when he arrived in Pearl it was under water he was transferred to the USS Pennsylvania and shipped out to the South Pacific.
He married my mother on January 7, 1943, while he was stationed at Treasure Island in San Francisco, California.
