WERNOWSKY RITES ARE HELD SUNDAY
Ernest F. Wernowsky, a native of Germany but a resident of Menard county for many years, died Friday March 24 at his home northwest of Petersburg, of a heart ailment at the age of sixty-six years. Mr. Wernowsky had moved to the farm where his death occured only two weeks before.

He was born in Germany on November 23, 1872, the son of Carl and Fredricka Schmidt Wernowsky. He came to America with the other members of his family during his early youth, and spent all his life in Menard county, excepting two years spent in Cass county and three years in Morgan county. He engaged in farming during his youth, and followed that vocation through the remaining years of his life.

He was married to Miss Catherine Janssen, daughter of Mrs. Catherine Rothert of this city, who survives. Surviving also are five children, Mrs. John Theilen, Carl Wernowsky, Mrs. Clarence Greenhalgh, and George Wernowsky, all of this community, and Mrs. Lee Skaggs of Havana; a niece, Mrs. Dorothy Steinkruger, who was reared in his home from the age of three; fifteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Wernowsky of Pekin; two sisters, Mrs. Jerry Sullivan of Petersburg and Mrs. Roscoe McGee of Oakford.

Mr. Wernowsky was well known all over Menard county, and especially in the west end of the county. He was a good neighbor, a fine friend, and good citizen, and will be greatly missed. Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Evangelical Church in this city at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon March 26, conducted by Rev. Roland Mernitz and burial was in Newmansville cemetery.
