She was a member of the Bethel United Brethren Church. Shirley was also a member of the Red Hat Society, Moose Lodge No. 51 and AMVETS No. 281. Shirley enjoyed dancing and volunteered at ICARE.
She is survived by her children, Edward Reighert Jr. and his wife, Doris, of New Castle, Walter Reighert and his partner, Tom Hanshaw, of New Castle, Milton Reighert and his wife, Shannon, of Pittsburgh, Shirley Snow of New Castle and Caroline Lawton and her husband, George, of New Castle; her brothers, Melvin Akins and Jay Akins, both of Buffalo, N.Y.; her sister, Donna Waugherman of Buffalo; 18 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Bobby Reighert; her brothers, David Akins and James Akins; and her sisters, Viola, Margaret Annabelle, Maxine and Katherine.
Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 31, at the Ed and Don DeCarbo Funeral Home and Crematory, 941 S. Mill St. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the funeral home. The Rev. John Wiseman, pastor of Bethel United Brethren Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Kittanning Cemetery.
