Otto E. Stitz, 74, who resided at 411 Lingle avenue, died at 12:45 p.m. Wednesday at Home hospital where he had been a patient 10 weeks. He had been in ill health health three months.
Born here, he was married to Lena C. Prien, who died in 1947. For 57 years he was operator and proprietor of a blacksmith shop on South street. He was a member of St. James Lutheran church and held many offices of that church. He was also a charter member of the Men's organization of St. James.
Surviving is a son, Prof. Ervin Stitz of the division of engineering sciences, Purdue university.
