OTTERBEIN - Mrs. Ellen Ashford, 49, of Otterbein, died at 12:30 p.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where she had been a patient 12 days.

Born in Jefferson City, MO., she resided in Lafayette until moving to Otterbein two years ago. She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Lafayette. She was employed at Purdue University.

In 1947 she married Averd (Boots) Ashford.

Surviving with her husband are children from a former marriage. Samuel Osborne of Rozel, Kans., Mrs. Francis Prien, of West Point, Thomas of West Point, Mrs. George Fields of Kettering, Oh, Clinton, of Liberty, Mrs. Raymond Chapman of Otterbein, Russell and Joseph, both of Otterbein, and Mrs. James Baker of Hamilton, Oh; her mother Mrs. Viola Phillips of Frankfort; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Clark, of Roachdale, Mrs. Minnie Hutts of St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs. William Schmidt of Antioch; and four brothers, Jack Nosler of Hoopeston, Ill, Albert Nosler of Danville, Ill, Lawrence Nosler of Danville, Ill, and Christopher Nosler of Helena, Ark.
