Mrs. Anna Catherine Hess was born in Canton June 27, 1859, died at her home near Lewistown June 29, 1920, aged 61 years and 2 days. She was married to Phillip Hess at Monticello in 1880, and located on a farm near Williamstown, where they lived until 1900, where they moved to a farm near Lewistown. Five children were born to this union, one son, Eugene and two daughters, Uva-Beth and Edna, besides her husband survives also her mother, Mrs. Mena Dralle and her sister, Miss Loretta Dralle of Canton. A sister, Mrs. Chas. H. Brown died last December in Oklahoma. Mrs. Hess united with the Methodist church in early childhood, and proved true and faithful to all her religious obligations. Funeral services were held at her home near Lewistown by Rev. Fulton Moore, after which her remains were brought to Canton and laid to rest in Forest Grove cemetery, after a brief service at the grave conducted by Rev. Froeschle.
