Lebanon native Dr. Grant W. Bamberger, 94, of 110 S. Fifth St., Coopersburg, and formerly of Honey Brook, died Friday, Aug. 6, 2004, in his home. He was the husband of Jo Marie Rider Bamberger, who died March 8, 1996. Born Oct. 29, 1909, he was a son of the late Alexander Schaffer and Susan Wenger Miller Bamberger. He was a family physician in Honey Brook for 40 years. He was a 1928 graduate of Lebanon High School, a 1932 graduate of Dickinson College, Carlisle, and a 1935 graduate of Hahnemann School of Medicine, Philadelphia. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving as a major. He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ, Coopersburg; Honey Brook Township Grange; Honey Brook VFW; Honey Brook American Legion and Honey Brook Masonic Lodge. He was past president of the Chester County Medical Society; past chairman of the First National Bank of Honey Brook; past president of the Honey Brook Lions Club; past board of trustees of Honey Brook United Methodist Church and past board member of the Honey Brook Sewer Authority. He also volunteered with Boy Scout Troop 9, serving as merit badge counselor and performing camp physicals at Camp Horseshoe in Maryland. He also enjoyed gardening, genealogy, hunting, fishing, weaving, bridge and pinochle. Surviving are sons Grant W. Jr., husband of Joan Bamberger of Essex Junction, Vt., David R., husband of Nancy Bamberger of Apex, N.C., Tomas, husband of Betty Bamberger of Coopersburg, and the Rev. Dr. James R., husband of Karen Bamberger of Lititz; brother Dr. John A. Bamberger of Lebanon; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sisters Nancy W. Gorman, Pollyanna Loose and Maude W. Bamberger. Services were held Wednesday, Aug. 11, 2004, at St. Johns United Church of Christ, Coopersburg.
