Georgia Cross was born on January 13, 1904 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota to Julia and George Cross. Wife of Joseph O. Wolden, they were married on November 26, 1932. Mother of Curtis Joe Wolden who was born on December 10, 1940. Her only child, Curtis died of polio at age 7 on September 19, 1948. Foster parent to Sharon Klippenstein. Sister to Neva (Kenneth) Blood, Ione (Bill) Allan, Warren (Arley) Cross, Sam (Velma) Cross, and Judy (Ernie) Johnson. She had three nephews, George Allan of Ames, Iowa, Lon Cross and Mike Johnson, both of Sioux Falls, and three neices, Sally Cross, Judy Lee Cross and Linda Johnson, all of Sioux Falls. Georgia's middle name, Clymo, was from her maternal grandmother's maiden name. She received her nickname, Tappy, from her nephew, Lon Cross, who as an infant, could not pronounce her first name. Georgia was active in the Wesley Metholdist Church. She and her sisters, sisters-in-law, and friends formed a sewing and arts 'n crafts group they simply called "Club." Georgia and Joe lived in Sioux Falls all their lives. They spent their retirement years at their Mesa, Arizona home in the winter, where Neva, Sam, Judy and Ernie also wintered. In the spring, they returned to their home at 336 N. French Avenue in Sioux Falls, and also enjoyed family get-togethers and reunions at Neva's cabin at Lake Madison in the summertime.
