She was married to Henry G. Nickel April 29, 1915. God blessed this union for over 42 years and our parents trained us children in the ways of the Lord. Our parents moved to Reedley in 1944 and lived on Church Street until father passed away January 5, 1958. Mother was very lonely after this. She moved to her present home on Madison Street in Fresno in 1960 where she remained active the rest of her life. She enjoyed religious programs on television on Sunday mornings and received a great blessing in this manner. She related this to us when we visited her. When giving thanks at the dinner table her prayers were very inspiring. She often related to us how she witnessed concerning Christ to her neighbors. Her earnest desire was to serve the Lord. She loved to speak about the Bible and spiritually related things to her family and friends. She enjoyed sewing and cooking for her family. A special delight were gatherings with her children, their families and her sisters. Our parents made yearly trips to Mount Herman conferences in their earlier years. Some of her favorite Bible passages were John 20: 30-31 and Psalms 23.
The Lord took her to himself very suddenly. Her last request to one of her sons was to pray with her. She is presently absent from the body but present with the Lord. We thank God for our parents and now also give our Mother to the Lord in Heaven who also directs our lives.
Those left to cherish her memories and praise God for her life are the following children:
Pearl and husband, Abe Fadenrecht, San Jose, California
Earl and wife, Mary Jane Dinuba
Clarence and wife, Clara San Jose
Henry and wife, Jeanette Fresno
10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren
Three sisters, Helen Carson, Lubbock Texas; Pearl Cornelsen Reedley; and Marie Byrd, Reedley, California
She was predeceased by her parents, husband, one daughter, three brothers and three sisters. We sorrow but with the hope of seeing our loved one again.
