Born in Bellingham, WA. Only son of J. Emmett Farley and Vivian M. Farley. Graduated from Whatcom High School in Bellingham in 1931. Married Amanda A. Pavish in 1939. Father of Fredrick D. Farley (born 1944) and L. Thomas Farley (born 1947). Moved to the Seattle, WA, area in the early 1930s. Spent most of his professional life working for Northern Radio Company in Seattle. Active in stock car racing in the 1930s. Worked as a civilian radio technician for the U.S. Army Signal Corps during World War II. Hobbies included reading and amateur radio. Worked briefly as a radio technician for the Washington State Patrol prior to his 1975 retirement. Active in his local chapter of the Washington State Democratic Party from the 1970s to the 1990s. His wife Amanda preceded him in death by six years (in 1992). Died peacefully in his sleep in 1998. Survived by his sons and also by his cousin Blanche Y. Peeples.
