William Sterosky, 79, of 1821 Division street, lifelong Port Huron resident, retired City Water Department employee, and Spanish American War veteran, died Wednesday in Mercy Hospital after a short illness.

Mr. Sterosky was born in Port Huron July 5, 1880, and served as a private in Company F, 33rd Michigan Infantry.

He worked for the City Water Department 25 years, retiring in 1945.

He was a member of J. Charles Phillips camp No. 25, USWV, the Rosary society of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Third Order of St. Francis, and the Holy Name society.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Wilhelmina M. Sterosky and two sons, Norbert A. Sterosky and William J. Sterosky, all of Port Huron; five daughters, Mrs. Norman S. Armstrong and Mrs. Wyman H. Kelly, both of Port Huron; Mrs. Thomas L. Hyde, Lakeport; Mrs. Elmo A. Kemp, Phoenix, Ariz., and Mrs. Charles H. Taylor, Flint; two step-sons, Charles E. Andrews and Theodore L. Andrews, both of Port Huron; 31 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Joseph's Catholic church.

The remains are in the Karrer-Simpson funeral home, where the Holy Name society will recite the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
