Karl Türk was the son of Johann Carl Ludwig Erdmann Türk and Ernestine Henriette Schulz. His wife was Mary Elizabeth Walcher, daughter of Marcus Walcher and Marie Magdalene "Ellen" Holzer. Carl emigrated from Hamburg aboard the "Marsala" on 3 Nov 1886. He arrived at New York on 23 Nov 1886. Mary was first generation American. Mary was first generation American. Her father immigrated to the United States in 1852 aboard the ship "Costello" from Le Havre, France. Her mother immigrated to the United States in 1854, also from Le Havre. Both of Mary's parents were from Switzerland.

In the United States, Karl was also interchangeably known as Carl and Charles. He was born in Zanzin, Landsberg an der Warthe, Prussia (Germany) in 1864. Today his birthplace is known as Santocko, Gorzow Wielkopolski, Poland. He died in Maple Heights, Ohio, in 1931 at 76 years of age. On the 1900 and 1910 censuses he was a laborer in a brickyard. On the 1920 census he worked in a chair factory. In 1925 he and his wife purchased a home at 14560 Pease Road in Maple Heights, Ohio. This remained their home for the duration of their lives and was passed down through the family.

Carl and Mary were the parents of six children. Their only two daughters died as toddlers. Their eldest son was killed in World War I. Their youngest three children – all sons, each bequeathed to them a posterity.

Y-DNA results reveal that he was an Autochthon Pole, i.e. Haplogroup R1a1a1g2; tests taken: SRY10831.2+ M458+ M207+ M198+ M173+ L260+ SRY10831.2- M87- M56- M343- M157.1- M124-.
