Dr W T Coggins, formerly city physician of Athens, was found in a dying condition in the Seaboard Air Line yards in Atlanta Tuesday night and died Wednesday morning in an Atlanta hospital.
The body of Dr Coggins will be brought to Athens Thursday night for burial. Dr Coggins was uninjured when found by the trainmen, an examination at the hospital revealed. He did not regain consciousness from the time he was found until his death.
Dr Coggina and Mrs Coggins were in an automobile wreck near Winder several months ago and both received injuries from which they did not completely recover. For several weeks they lay at a local hospital at the point of death.
Dr Coggins is survived by his widow who is a sister of E J Crawford, clerk of courts; a sister, Mrs H L Ozburn of Riverdale; three brothers, J L Coggins, Covington; J M Coggins, Cyril, Okla; and R L Coggins, Atlanta. Dr Coggins was in his 64th year,
Funeral services for Dr Coggins will be conducted from the Prince Avenue Baptist church Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock by Rev T W Tippett, the pastor. Dr Coggins was a member of the Baptist church.
Interment will be in the Crawford cemetery near Neese. McDorman-Bridges funeral home in charge.
Dr Coggins was born in Newton county and had lived in Athens about twenty years.
