Ransom Cass Holland is also known in the records as Ranson. He left Dyersburg, TN, about 1870/1871 and went to AR. He came to TX in 1877 first to Lamar Co., in 1878 to Delta Co., in 1879 to Cooke Co., and finally in 1880 to Parker Co. where he settled in the Sturdivant Community. In records from 1882 his residence is listed as Cedar Hill. First marriage date also given as Feb 1872.

Weatherford Texas, Dec. 19- News reached here today to the effect R. C. Holland a Prosperous Farmer of Palo Pinto County, living 3 miles southeast of Mineral Wells, was put in his wagon in this city feeling unwell and driven home by his son. When the son arrived home it was found that the father was dead. Sunday morning a post mortem examination was held and it was found the he came to death by an overdose of alcoholic spirits. - obituary
